The following excerpts are taken from The Eagels' View [A View Around Town], written by Klaus Gaebel, and appearing in the October 25, 2007 edition of The Saugerties Post Star

First:

"School superintendent Richard Rhau must have thought he was living his worst nightmare, when at the last school board meeting he walked into the Jr. High cafeteria, only to see his nemesis George Heidcamp sitting in the president’s chair - substituting for the absent Don Tucker – and Heidcamp appearing eager to run the meeting. For a moment the superintendent probably wished he’d stayed retired in New Jersey."

next:

"At one point during the meeting, while the board considered a resolution, trustee James Steinhilber innocently asked questions of an audience member. Trustee Michael Brennan objected. Brennan was technically correct that Steinhilber’s questions were not germane to the resolution at hand. Heidcamp, however, was in no mood to stifle discussion. Having been elected largely on a campaign pledge to open communication, and always looking to take advantage of an opportunity, he uttered “point of order is noted – CONTINUE!”

"Steinhilber then resumed his questioning, while a red faced Brennan appeared momentarily stunned."

and, then:

"Steinhilber was a late entry into the school board race earlier this year, replacing Kathy Cavanagh when she bowed out. Losing a close town board race back in 2001 by 36 votes, in the school race Steinhilber won over popular incumbent Vince Buono and Edward Kovac. While some board members often ask questions knowing the preordained answer, Steinhilber’s questions are probing. How refreshing."
