2008 Rumors have been swirling that Saugerties Central School
district Assistant Superintendent Cheryl Nuciforo is
actively seeking employment elsewhere. Asked to confirm or deny those rumors, her response could
best be described as vague. Nuciforo stated that since before the day she came
here "I'm always watching. So, I don't want to say I'm not
looking, I don't want to say I am looking." When pointedly asked if she was actively seeking
another position, Nuciforo responded "I'm more in the
anything can happen [mode]." Nuciforo also serves as Title IX Compliance Officer
and director of curriculum and development for the
district. Prior to coming to the Saugerties Central School
district, Nuciforo was employed by the Enlarged City School
District of Troy, New York. She was hired after the
resignation of Brenda Peters in 2003. With the contract of Superintendent Richard Rhau
expiring in June 2009, the Saugerties Board of Education
could be faced with having to fill the top two
administrative positions in the district in the next year if
the assistant superintendent left.
