As a former resident of Saugerties, I have
maintained many friendships with people still
residing there, and I still feel a kind of kinship
to your town.
And I pay attention to the goings on in
Saugerties. I am very dismayed that two members of
the school board want to remove George Heidcamp's
right to freedom of speech. It appeared to have a
tactic that the Nazi Gestapo would employ.
Thanks to your editorial, the move was squashed,
and justice has been served. My faith in the Post
Star just went up several notches.
However, it is very interesting that the
attitude of two members of the Board of Education
would actually try to censor Mr. Heidcamp for being
a 'watchdog' of improper tactics used by the Board.
They apparently have much to hide.
All of that makes me believe you have the
communist NEA and the ACLU in your school district.
Do they allow the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag,
under God? Can kids say prayers in school if they
want to?
I do not know who the two board members are, but
I surely hope Saugerties will give them the 'boot',
and elect honest people in their place. And the
District Superintendent should be given his
'walking' papers.
God bless America, and I shall pray for
Saugerties.
