To the Editor:

Mr. Heidcamp advocated voting against the first run of the budget and the voters obediently followed his advice, and the three candidates he backed for the board were easily elected. For the second budget vote when he instructed the voters to vote yes, that's exactly what they did. It seems that he is now running our school system,

Mr. H. will go to any length to crucify our superintendent by pointing out the money he spends for expenses. His poison-pen writes that he spends "hundreds of thousands of dollars" on his coast-to-coast expenses. Mr. Rhau came to us with many years of experience. He controls a forty-four million dollar enterprise with over three-thousand students and a large staff; daily there are problems to be faced and decisions to be made. Mr. Rhau is an asset to our community and should not be judged by the money he spends for rental cars, meals, etc. But, Mr. Heidcamp has done his job and he has a legion of supporters. He writes that "there will be new faces on the board after the next election", and, of course, those new faces will be those supporting Mr. Heidcamp, so it can be readily assumed that, regardless of the job he is doing that the superintendent is on the way out. He will join the list since 1991 of Hong, Gregory, Singleton, Peters, and Gottlieb. Since Dan Lee left, there has been no continuity in our leadership, which doesn't help in our effort to have a school system that we can be proud of.

I'm sorry but there is no light at the end of the tunnel: Mr. Heidcamp controls the switch.
