To the Editor:
In Response to Harris,
or Mission Impossible
I am in receipt of a copy James Harris' Letter
to the Editor for this week, which he sent to my
house with an attached note of apology for
involving the PBA and the Conservative Party in his
"anger," and indicating that this would be his last
on the subject. On behalf of both the PBA and
Conservative Party, I accept his apology.
I would, however, like to respond, somewhat
tongue-in-cheek, to his remark about all those
phone calls he received from people willing to join
him in his protest. Harris claims he hasn't kept
count of the number of calls that he has received
thus far, but compares the number to the amount of
tickets I have written over the years, multiplied
by two. Curious as to just how many calls that
would be, I figured it out. Conservatively
speaking, let's say I wrote 10-tickets each week,
or a total of 520 each yearwe'll round the
number to 500. Now, we'll multiply that by 33-years
for a rough total of 16,500 tickets during my
career. As Harris suggested, "multiply that by
two," for 33,000 telephone calls gotten by Harris.
If Harris received 33,000 phone calls from people
talking about George Heidcamp, I suppose I should
be flattered. But then I decided to take this one
step further. If Harris spent a minimum amount of
time with each of these callers, say three-minutes
per call, he'd have to have spent 1,650-hours
straight (or almost 70-days, 24-7) on the phone
during the last couple of weeks that he's been on
this mission. I guess his mission should be called
"Mission Impossible."
I think Harris went a bit overboard and I'm
having a little fun with it but, seriously, I hold
no grudges and hope Harris continues enjoying his
walks through the park as I continue with The
Heidcamp Report. Speaking of which, the September
14th issue of The Heidcamp Report will expose
shocking new evidence that will stun this
community. You won't want to miss this one, it will
be a bombshell.
