Dear Editor,
The October 5th, 2006 edition of your paper
claims that I "drafted a letter designed to protect
Rhau and stop the Heidcamp Report". This is not
true. The letter was designed to inform the public.
The column goes on to state "MacIsaac was forced to
omit false statements". Again, this is not true. I
called the author of the column on this and he
could not cite multiple "outright lies", but only a
single technicality. Allowing such content to be
published borders on libel and defamation of
character.
I volunteer my time to the Board of Education as
a community service. I try to do my homework, vote
each item on its own merit, and not allow politics
to influence me. I try to balance the needs of the
children and the taxpayers. I am a resident of
Saugerties, a taxpayer, a husband, a father of
children in the district, and a school board
trustee. I believe that the district's teachers,
assistants, aides, administration, coaches, nurses,
custodians, volunteers and school board members are
all working hard to create the best possible school
district. This school system is designed to teach
and nurture the children of our community.
If you really want to be a community newspaper,
please try to present a more balanced view of the
Saugerties school district. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Michael MacIsaac
