 Shame on the school board

We have had a lot of rain. The flat roofs in the Saugerties Central School District are not up to the task of protecting the school buildings entirely. This problem has been recognized by the district's administrators and maintenance staff for many years. Many thousands of dollars have been spent through the years to repair and resurface roofs throughout the district. There has been too much weather, and too little money in this district to solve this problem completely.

The current school board president, Donald Tucker and his vice president, George Heidcamp take it upon themselves to walk through the schools and take pictures of leaks and they then share those findings with the school administrators, construction projects and maintenance supervisors to better understand the immediate causes of these problems and what is being done about it?

Not at all. These two gentlemen instead skip over the people who are working on the problem and present their findings at a school board meeting.

Their goal is to shame the district. They do not care what impression their conduct has on people who live in or are thinking about moving to our community. Their goal is to make themselves look righteous and the district look bad. The value of all our homes decreases when these two take the stage to serve themselves rather than the community.

School board elections are happening May 20, 2008. If you care about this community, you will not stand aside and let these two continue to run the show. Petitions to run for the board are available starting March 20 from the district office.
